About Us

At Motherhood in Mind, we understand that becoming a mother is one of the most profound psychological transitions a person can experience.

Alongside joy and love, pregnancy, birth, fertility journeys, and early parenthood can also bring uncertainty, trauma, and emotional distress.

We created Motherhood in Mind to offer compassionate, and reputable evidence-based psychological support for women and families navigating this season of life. Our work is grounded in the understanding that maternal wellbeing matters deeply; not only for mothers themselves, but for babies, relationships, and families as a whole.

Our approach combines specialist perinatal psychological expertise with warmth, curiosity, and humanity. We understand that every experience of motherhood is different, shaped by our personal histories, relationships, culture, identity, and the expectations placed upon us as women. We also understand that finding the right support can feel like a minefield. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all advice, we aim to create a space where people feel seen, understood, and supported without judgement.

We support expectant and new mums through a range of experiences, including:

  • Fertility challenges and IVF

  • Anxiety during pregnancy or after birth

  • Birth trauma and difficult birth experiences

  • Pre- and post-natal anxiety, depression, and rage

  • Bonding and attachment difficulties

  • Loss of identity in motherhood

  • Relationship changes during the transition to parenthood

  • Self-criticism, overwhelm, and emotional burnout

  • Simply wanting a space to reflect

  • And many more

Our therapeutic approach is informed by contemporary psychological theory and practice. We are particularly passionate about helping parents make sense of their emotional worlds, understand the impact of their own experiences, and build compassionate, connected relationships with themselves and their babies.

At MiM, we believe that supporting mothers is not about striving for perfection, it is about creating enough safety, support, and understanding for both mum and baby to thrive. Whether you are preparing for parenthood, navigating pregnancy, healing after birth, or finding your way in early motherhood, we hope you feel at home here.
